Beautiful Simple Moments

This is a layout I did for a dear friend of mine with the August Scraps of Darkness kit called "Envy".  She and her daughter were walking over a bridge, and her husband decided it was a worthy photo opportunity.  I agree, and I couldn't help but scrap it for her.  I will be sending her this as a gift this week.  I cannot say enough about how beautiful this kit is!  It was loaded with beautiful papers from Kaisercraft and flowers from  Petaloo and ZVA Creative.  It has lots of other beautiful embellishments too!
The paper in the middle of the diecut is a handmade paper from Italy that another friend of mine brought back to me from her vacation there.  It has real pink flower petals embedded in the fibers.  It's such a beautifully textured paper.  I accented some areas on the diecut with Snow-Tech for more texture, and then used spray mists and chalk ink to accent it.

Here's a closeup of some of the awesome embellishments and trinkets in this kit.
This kit also had some dragonfly rub-ons from The Robin's Nest.  I applied the rub-on to some transparency, cut it out, and bent the wings up.
Thanks for looking and enjoy your weekend!

Happy Friday!

This is another layout for our Maine album.  I've been trying to get the album completed before we return there again in a couple of weeks.  The photo is my husband standing in front of Geddy's (a VERY cool restaurant in Bar Harbor).  Check it out if you're ever there!

Sunset Cruise

This is my interpretation of Suepup's sketch for the monthly challenge for the Scraps of Darkness July kit "Marrakesh Express".  This kit features papers from Creative Imaginations, flowers from Prima, rub-ons from K & Company and so much scrappy goodness!  I just love the vibrancy of this kit!  This photo is of my husband and I in Bar Harbor, Maine on a sunset cruise we took.  I cut the beautiful sun out on my Silhouette and painted it with the Twinkling H2O's that came in the Color Add-on for this kit.

I cut the ship's helm out with my Silhouette and then embossed it with Tim Holtz's Distressed Embossing Powder in Vintage Photo.  I love the texture it gave it!

I used one of the Pink Paislee's Artisan Elements circles for the picture of ship.  I painted it with a combination of Twinkling H2O's water color paints and Smooch Ink in Espresso.  This photo doesn't do it justice.  It just glimmers and the colors have so much depth to the naked eye.
I used a piece of gauze from my stash and inked it with Distress Stains in Wild Honey and Tattered Angels Chalkboard mist in Hot Chocolate.

Def Leppard - Scraps of Darkness Stalker Challenge

I did this LO for the Stalker Challenge hosted by Renea over at Scraps of Darkness.  The June kit is perfect for this one because it's choc full of all the goodies from the Bo Bunny Zoology line.

Here are some close ups:

I made the above embellishment with a metal washer, alcohol ink, and some copper wire.  I finally put my Vagabond and Tim Holtz dies to some much needed use with the copper metal sheet under the cardboard.  I love working with metal!
These music notes are from Dusty Attic (available from the Scraps of Darkness store!) I used Paprika and Black Diamonds Stickles on them for some sparkle.
The Spanish moss was an item from a previous SOD kit as well as the piece of leopard ribbon.  The square stones and bottle cap are from my stash.  The bottle caps are from Maya Road and come plain.  I added the button and some black screening I had in my stash.

Reveal Day for Scraps of Darkness

The May kit for Scraps of Darkness is just gorgeous!  With an oriental flair, this one has beautiful, bright papers laced with gold, lots of sparkle, and so many options for creativity.  I have been chosen to be the Guest Designer for May, and I'm so appreciative for this opportunity!  Here are my layouts created with this month's kit.

it's a girl thing
This is my daughter when she was little, and it's one of my favorite pics of her.

One of the embellies for this kit were the fans in pink and white.  I chose to use a rub-on from my stash and then stamped the edge with a lace clear stamp and black ink.

be happy
This is a photo of my brother and sister-in-law on their wedding day.

This kit had so many choices for fussy cutting, which is what I did on this layout with purple vine.  I dressed it up with some Glimmer Mist and Smooch ink as well.  I used pop dots to adhere them and give some more dimension.  The fern leaves are from my stash.
I love this Dusty Attic crane, and it seemed perfect for this layout.  I inked with white Smooch ink, and though you probably can't see it here, it just shimmers.

Dreamy
This is another pic of my daughter when she was little, and I just love how this layout turned out.

I did a lot of fussy-cutting on this one, matted black cardstock behind it along with some white tulle.  I made the flowers out of silver tissue-paper.
To make the flowers on the printed paper stand out more, I coated them with Rock Candy Distress Crackle paint, and then applied white Smooch ink.  I just love how shimmery the Smooch is!

Time flies when you're having rum
Lastly, this is my husband and me in Key West last month.  Our favorite place there is called "The Rum Barrel", and that's where this was taken.
The clock was actually from last month's kit, and I used texture paint around the edge, painted, and inked with distress ink to make it more 3-D.  The Dusty Attice wings are from the SOD store.  For the chipboard letters, I used Smooch and distress ink, then coated them in clear embossing powder.

Thanks for looking and be sure to check out all the great Design Team work in the gallery over at Scraps of Darkness!

Eternal Love

The following layout was also made with the April kit from Scraps of Darkness.  This Easter I was inspired by my faith and belief in God to do something commemorating the resurrection of Jesus.  Easter, to me, is not about bunnies, eggs, and all that.  The one photo on this page is graphic, and I used it because I believe that it is realistic of what really happened to Jesus.  I've included scripture verses to support the message.
Here are some closeup shots of the scripture verses I used on this LO:

This is one that I plan to frame & place on the wall of my scrap room to remind me of the price that was paid for all.  Happy Easter and may God bless you!

Travel Through the Pages of Time

Now back to scrappiness!!  This LO was done with the Scraps of Darkness April Kit "Foundations".  This is truly a beautiful kit.  Don't get me wrong, there hasn't been one I haven't liked!  However, this one is full of scrappy indulgence with the Bo Bunny Timepiece line, and lots of other great embellies.  This is a pic of my father when he was a baby back in April, 1943.  My Grandmother kindly gave me many photos of my dad and mom so that I would have them to keep.  Thanks for looking!

Last Wishes

This bittersweet LO is my father and me in Niagara Falls back in 1995.  He had been diagnosed terminally ill with lung & liver cancer and had undergone all the chemotherapy they would give him.  He had never been here and wanted to visit before his time was cut short.  He was 54 when he died, and all I can say is he was one of the "7 wonders of my world".  I look forward to seeing him again someday in Heaven!

Happy New Year!

My first LO of 2011!  This was done using the Scraps of Darkness Dec kit "Time Flies".  I threw in a couple of items from the November Rain kit as well.  I just love this pic of my daughter, Hope.  I've been wanting to do a LO with this photo for so long.  This kit was perfect for it!  Thanks for stopping by!
